Creating this multi-layer soft pastel was only the beginning of nail-biting angst: One mistaken motion cutting into the pastel using both the sharp end and larger end of a toothpick; one false step and it would be fini. Make the idea sing or else! By the conclusion, I was exhausted. Oh my god, then I had to sign it with an ink pen and not disturb the surface. BUT a single technical aspect made all this 'work': 4 layers of Lascaux fixative applied liberally. Love imagining - Steve
